What it was
This one started as summer boredom and a preference for not driving two miles. I had barely skateboarded, which turned out not to matter much, because the interesting part was the conversion rather than the riding.
Two 900 Kv motors mount to the rear axle and belt-drive it, with the battery and the motor controller in a printed case underneath the deck. Everything that touches the board is a printed bracket, so the whole drivetrain is an add-on to a normal skateboard instead of a custom deck.
I modelled it in CAD first, the same way I do the rest of my hardware. That is the habit worth keeping from this project: the alternative is free-building, and free-building means discovering the mistake after you have cut the part.
